Supporters Club

Throughout the Bootiful project we have been delighted at the level of grassroots support we have always enjoyed. Countless people have "popped in" to see how we were doing and have nearly always said "…if there is anything I can do to help.." at some point during their visit.

To sail Bootiful efficiently and safely requires a lot of manpower so we decided to establish a supporters club early in 1999 and tap in to this rich vein of support we are fortunate enough to have.

With the help of The Eastern Daily Press, we advertised for a team of volunteers to help with :

• The launching, recovery and routine maintenance of Bootiful
• Powerboat driving and safety afloat
• Timing of record attempts

The response was excellent and we now have a 40 strong team which has already cut our time to launch in half. Moreover our team keep on coming up with bright ideas and new solutions to improve our operation.

Please state your age, where you live, how much time you can reasonably take off work each month (just a day or two is fine) and if you have any special skills such as powerboat qualifications, first aid or a deep understanding of electronics and timing equipment.

Please don't be put off if you don't have any special skills. The main qualities we need from our supporters are enthusiasm, ability to work hard, ability to get up very early, good teamworking skills, a love of getting wet and also plenty of patience. So boy or girl, young or old, if you think you'd like to have a crack please get in touch.
